Come ti chiami?
Carlos Redruello

Età?
47 (11/09/1965)

Dove vivi?

Non so rispondere. E' impossibile.

1 - Daiwa SLS 17 S-G (DAIWA)
2 - Rapala MAX-RAP 17 (RAPALA)
3 - Slim Flyer 140 (DUO)
4 - Rough Trail 130 (DUO)
5 - Daiwa Salt Pro Minnow 150 (DAIWA)
6 - Flash Minnow 110 SP (Lucky Craft)
7 - Patchinko 10 (XÖRUS)
8 - Fish Gun 110 (Lucky Craft)
9 - Blues V-code (MARIA)
10 - Ultraeel 40 (STORM)

Chivo, Rapala Original.

Quante spigole catturi mediamente?
Meglio non risponderti.. Mi capisci..

Perchè hai iniziato a pescare a spinning?

Pensi a qualche sponsor?

¿Cuándo empezaste a pescar?

Y he pescado muchas lubinas de 82-90 cm ( longitud total) ( 5-7,5 kilogramos).

No sé responder. Es imposible. Han sido muchas experiencias. He pescado lubinas desde acantilado con equipo ligero. Muy gratificante y difícil. Y he pescado lubinas grandes con equipos pesados.

Daiwa SLS 17 S-G (DAIWA)
Rapala MAX-RAP 17 (RAPALA)
Slim Flyer 140 (DUO)
Rough Trail 130 (DUO)
Daiwa Salt Pro Minnow 150 (DAIWA)
Flash Minnow 110 SP (Lucky Craft)
Patchinko 10 (XÖRUS)
Fish Gun 110 (Lucky Craft)
Blues V-code (MARIA)
Ultraeel 40 (STORM)

Mejor no responder, ustedes me entienden

Gracias Sr. Carlos..

There are many blogs, websites infinite born in the wake of the passion and willingness to share but few, very few are those who survive beyond a certain time .. Those that succeed and resist to the natural selection they become actual pieces of one web irreplaceable and indispensable.
Behind their pages often there are great fishermen driven by a passion and a boundless love for the sea.

We found ourselves often comment, I and the captain, between a post and another, between a pint of rum and a piece of cheese, one of them in particular that we love and that is one of the most vibrant between the salty piles of bytes that move in  Europe, Robalospin. Very rich of tests, close-up, full of great pictures and dedicated almost exclusively to the sea bass which Carlos is a very profound knower and passionate fisherman. The website contains a huge amount of data sheets, explanations and reviews .. An impressive amount of updates always extremely timely and accurate with detailed descriptions and detailed information of each artificial that is launched by the skilled hands of a single fisherman, Carlos Redruello.
Like all people in our industry that we value, we contacted him and he was extremely helpful answering our questions that we in our turn we turn to you hoping to have made known on this occasion a great character tied with a double knot to sea and fishing in general.

-:-:-:-:-:-:-

Your name?
Carlos Redruello

Age?
47 (11/09/1965)

Where  you live? town? region?
I Have lived in A Coruna Galicia-Spain for years but I was born and raised in Barcia-Valdés-Asturias. All surrounded by green fields and the blue sea.

When you start with your blog?
RTS began in April 2008. It was preceded by a previous blog (sargolocoteam), on a more general level, but I closed it down.

Why you start with your blog?
It is a question difficult to answer. I guess it's a "spiritual" need to translate texts and images into my vision of fishing and nature.

What is your favorite fishes (bass we know) and why?
Besides the sea bass, I like the sea  bream ("Diplodus sargus sargus"), a relatively abundant sparid on the northwest coast of Spain. It is a really tough fish and I catch this fish with long rods and very thin float and terminals.

How many days in a week you going to fishing?
For personal reasons I have been reducing my fishing days in the last two years. Some time ago I used to go fishing at least 5 times a week. Today I am glad if I fish even just for two days.

Use or you just spinning tackle fishing in another way? in what?
Currently for bass fishing I only use artificial lures. For bream fishing I take advantage of natural baits.

What is for you fishing?
It is not just an entertainment. It's a passion, a romance with life and the sea. Destiny is my own demise as a human being. And along the way I learn, I enjoy, suffer and try to live this life in the best way possible. The fish is the icon, but it is not an essential aspect. Fishing is a path I go along joyfully. It is an emotional activity. We cause an effect, interfering with the living matter or an ecosystem. Thus we accept a responsibility that we need to know how to apply.

What is for your fishing with lures?
It is an art of fishing. We want to use lures that are very similar to the usual prey. But what is really a work of art is fishing with lures that do not resemble any fish at all.

What change in this years fishing with lures in?
There is a technological breakthrough taking place. Not even 10 years ago the variety of lures was limited. Today, not only the reel but also the lines and leaders, along with many lures formats, have offered a new and diverse landscape that appeals to fans.

When you start to fishing?
I started very young. I have been fishing since I was 8 years old. I always enjoyed fishing at sea more than anything.

Who learn to you to fishing?
I learned from people such as my uncle, my father, my cousin andthanks to my two true masters: Josè Groerio and Josè Maria Alvarez.
Blogs, international periodicals and internet forums available are very useful for all of us, especially for young people.

Fishing you ever alone or with friends?
I usually go fishing by myself. This is not a good idea, but lately I have become more independent. Yet, I share some fishing moments with some friends of mine, but I sometimes go with my really best friends.

Did you ever know fishing with somebody on the net?
Yes, I have met many colleagues on the net. And some of them went fishing with me. I have great memories of these moments, and some of them are now good friends of mine.

What You Thinking About all this new blogs?
I think it's great because blogs offer personal views that add variety to the world of fishing. In Spain and Portugal they have been quite prolific, if you stick to the art of spinning, as many fishermen here are really fond of sea bass fishing.

Did you practice the C & R? and why?
Yes, I practice C & R continuously for bass under 55 cm and I also release some big bass. I do it as a way of expressing myself. I am tolerant, and I can occasionally take advantage of some bass consumption. I believe this action is always the right thing to do and dignifies the fisherman. But I disagree with those who raise it to a moral scale. I also have a different point of view from those who proselytize.

What is the best quality in a fisherman?
The same as for any human being: kindness. But from a technical standpoint, a fisherman needs knowledge, curiosity and perseverance.

What was the best catch seabass That You?
I caught some fish such as bass over 19 pounds and about 97cm. And I caught many bass of 82-90 cm (total length) (5-7.5 kg). But years ago I didn´t use to take any photo. This hobby actually started at the end of 2003 after many years of fishing. I also practiced other disciplines along the way. In this link you will see some photos of  bass between 5 and 7.5 kilograms (80-91 cm)

What is your best catch and why?
I do not know how to answer to you. It is impossible to say. There have been so many experiences. I went fishing for bass from cliffs with light equipment. It´s very rewarding and at the same time difficult. But I caught big bass with heavy equipment too. They didn´t even fight much. The best catch is always the latest and the best catch will be always a dawn in a healthy and very excited spirit.

Wath is your more strange catch in these years?
Various species are usually caught with artificial lures. Almost all fish attack the baits.

What you think about the future of sportfishing?
This future is assured, since there will always be fans who gaze at the sea as a kind of mirror of their emotions. And fishing as a way of catching a fish is integrated into our primitive brain. I am sure that the new generations will learn to protect the marine environment in a better way, to practice more C & R and to enjoy it differently than I did in my younger days. Moreover, the powerful business of fishing components will delight us with novel materials that will enhance our curiosity. But it all depends on the fact that the policies must protect the resources and consider fishing as an important asset and an activity that should be enhanced.

Today is still possible to create something of Innovative in fishing?
I am totally convinced. In all areas . I am completely sure that some new materials will be launched that will improve the virtues of braided and fluorocarbon to get thinner and more resistant products. And rods, and reels ... are to develop new nano products that will add more strength and lightness. As for lures, here is a world to discover, from new layers to sound internal systems, including swimming functions .... The advance is unstoppable and it only requires some research and the application of new materials.

Wath is your favorite lure? and why?
Because of the type of spinning I  practice more (M-MH) and the enjoyment that brings me fishing in shallow coastal areas with rough sea, the large slim minnow format (> 17 cm) is the one that has given me most of the catches in the last few years. The vinyl type Jighead head shad is very fashionable. They are very suitable for fishing in different spots and easy - " maybe too much"? - to handle. But they are less fulfilling than the attack of the sea bass to the slim type  fish. Then I love fishing with top water, especially with small ones, 10-15 grams. It is a wonderful discipline.

What is your favorite lure color and why?
It is hard to answer. But a brown or olive green back and with holographic designs on its flanks always work.

Did you naturally prefer patterns or fantasy?
The sea bass do not see “artificial”colors. For them, a fluo pink is a fish that can be eaten; and so is chartreuse. There are many baitfish with very spectacular and flashy colors that are out of the standard blue, brown, green ... and they all work. The black is not natural but it works perfectly well.

What is your favorite lures topten?

Daiwa SLS 17 S-G (DAIWA)
Rapala MAX-RAP 17 (RAPALA)
Slim Flyer 140 (DUO)
Rough Trail 130 (DUO)
Daiwa Salt Pro Minnow 150 (DAIWA)
Flash Minnow 110 SP (Lucky Craft)
Patchinko 10 (XÖRUS)
Fish Gun 110 (Lucky Craft)
Blues V-code (MARIA)
Ultraeel 40 (STORM)
Rolling Shad (XÖRUS)

What is the MOST great innovation of the last 10 years for the fishing with lures?
The DUEL transfer system, the improvement in the connection between jig head and soft and the modern braided.

Wath was your first lure?
Chivo, Rapala Original

How many did you catch bass? more or less
I would rather not give any specific answer, if you know I mean

Why you start to fishing with lures?
Fishing with lures is traditional in my land. The major difference is that in recent years there has been a great development technically speaking

Think about wath you sponsor?
I respect the choice that people do concerning that aspect. But in my blog I keep a values scale that prevents me from accepting any sponsor

Carlos Redruello is a great fisherman, one of those who look into things inside the equipment, into the lures ...
He is a sea man of those who are becoming increasingly rare. His blog is a mine of information, very interesting from the technical point of view and the most visited in Europe.

One of the things that most impressed us in these years of "telematics presence" is the  great desire to share, far away from sponsorship and quest for glory (as many now do). Place it between our "interviews doc" was enjoyable as well, this time, he had left us something, an added value that we hope to be able to convey to those who arrived at the bottom of this page.

Thank you Mr. Carlos..

The Dark side of DUO

Come mai..
Siamo tormentati dalle domande in continuazione..

Curiosity is one of the main features of cutest minds and vibrant personalities, the curiosity that drives us to look into things behind them and triggering a spiral of increasingly dense questions..
Who was that... Who made the first.... What Happened when.. Why.....
We are constantly tormented by questions.. if then to be a tortured is the crew of an old fishing vessel here we find ourselves around a coffin, maybe not in fifteen, with a bottle of rum.
So we had the idea of looking behind, inside of things, beyond the imagination....

We had to start with one of the most important figures of our environment, which has given a new direction in our technique giving a nice boosts of vitality, creating a new real category of lures and drawing the first great long jerk, the Tide Minnow, an absolute must for every salt spinner, Mr Masahiro Adachi

Adachi San, for the uninitiated, is the Chief Designer and General Manager of DUO, the man from whose mind and through whose hand are born all DUO lures in the past 17 years. Who better than he could tell the time of the birth of a new lure, who better than he could sed some light on the that dark side that we never thought we could explore....

So in a hurry we have learned the Japanese, made the tickets for Japan, prepared the suitcase and took the voice recorder

1) When did your collaboration with DUO?
1) We, i and the DUO President Matsushita started the company in 1995

2) How did you realize that your vocation was the study and development of fishing lures?
2) I started my career in another company at the age of 20 years, but previously i have always thought that my work should be limited to the design and development. In fact, i never had the ambition to start a separate company

3) What is the first lure you saw in your life?
3) This is a question that is difficult to answer (the years began to pass :) ) But i remember with certainty that the first bait that i bought was a Heddon Tiger

4) What are the factors that will ispire the design of a new bait?
4) It is not easy to answer this question, because basically there's a primary and secondary factor but a set of factors. To try to summarize i would say that i rely on my personal experience, knowledge of behavior of the predator who tries to undermine and kind of technique that i use, even if everything is the result of a spontaneous decision

5) How many years do you do this work?
5) I work with DUO 17 years, if i add these to the years that i worked at the previous company we reach 19 years of experience in this work

6) Wich was the first lure that you designed?
6) The first lure that i designed for the DUO was a topwater called Splasher, i drew in the same period the previous version of the Press Bait 85

7) When developing a new product which is the first step?
7) The simple answer is obviously thinking about is intended prey, but there are many other factors to consider such as the environment in which the fish usually hunt. Of course it is important to try to propose something new on the market, but if the bait is not able to catch is useless....

8) There is a school in Japan, which prepares for the lure designer career?
8)There is such a school, but most are taught to work in fishing industry but does not prepare in particular in lure design

9) Take into consideration when designing new products all the different geographical areas and the different prey?
9) This is a very important factor, for example now we are developing a Jerkbait for pike fishing (Protopike) but this species is not present in Japanese waters. Since DUO has begun a campaign of global production, i do not just focus on gamefish of our country, but to provide an bait that can be productive in other country with other prey is necessary know his habits. For this DUO uses the experience of his Field Tester around of the world

10) What is the work that you are most proud?
10) I am proud of all that lures that i designed, but if i mention one in particular, this is definitely the Tide Minnow Slim Series, the development of a slim lure with tat form has been very difficult

11) What lure produced by DUO has required the longest period of design?
11) We say that the release of the new bait also depends on the season, it often happens that many project are stuck in the middle of development, it is difficult to respond with a specific time segment. In general the development of Topwater Baits require more time than others. Lookiung back i would say however that the lure design in DUO was pretty smooth thought, to be honest, there have been cases in which the design of bait lasted even three years

12) When you drew the first version of the Tide Minnow Series? And why did you choose this name?
12) I think the first model of this series is the Tide Minnow 120SR, that was designed in 1996. Regarding the name, since it is a product intended for sale, the most important thing is that it is easy to remember and well suited to the product in question, but to be honest did not have a particular meaning behind.

13) Who chooses the names of lures?
13) Usually i decide the name, but if i can not find a good idea, i let some other staff member to decide

14) What are the three most important steps in the design of a lure?
14) The design of a new product includes a lot of aspects separated from each other, as the volume of the body, the aerodynamics, the design of the body and the head of bait, in addition of the aspects concerning the action sought, are all very important separated factors, difficult to pick just three

15)What market research leading to the decision of study and produce new lures? what you want to achieve the fundamental objectives from time to time?
15) The crucial point of the production of lures is obviously a commercial speech, that is sell bait as possible and get as much profit, but if you think only to business, it could never support the "minor" fishing technique and you cant help the development of sport fishing. So even if you can draw the best lure in the world is not told that this could be catch in any spot around the world.
In short, we can only try to provide the best tool possible for anglers and this is the most inspiration for my work

16) What is the bait that you considered most innovative?
16) Since i started to working with DUO i drew more than 200 lures, hard to pick just one, but i can say that for me stands out more, that is the DUO Bay Ruf Manic. This bait has a very special action that i believe can not be reproduced without doing a direct copy. Although its's not a lure, but i believe is necessary to mention with regard to innovation in the field of lures is the weight moving system developed by Tackle House

17) A Historic Brand like Rapala how is considered in the Japan Fishing Market?
17) The Rapala Trademark is absolutely to respect just for the successful that have in the global market and there are certainly many things that we can learn from this. To his regard their margin in the Japanese market is quite low. Regarding the design, there is not much to say and i'll leave the judge to the international readers

18) Mr Adachi is shipwrecked o a desert island, can carry with him only three lures, such as choose and why?
18) If i could choose, and if you were to treat of survival i will take with me diving mask and spear, the best choise :=) . If i were limited to choose three baits, i would bring with me a Press Bait 90 Fusion, a Tide Vib Slim 140 and a Tide Minnow 75 Sprint, because they are well balanced and allows the size to challenge a large variety of fish, in this way could certainly more varied menu :)

19) What do you considered the best bait of all time?
19) I'm not very knowledgeable about the history of lures, but the Heddon Spook have one of the best design off all the time

20) How do you live the moments before the launch of a new bait?
20) It normally take three months before a new bait is finally released on the market, then at the start of sales i'm already working on the next product. Regarding sales, i don't worry because there's never been a case where we could not sell a new artificial

21) How many prototypes are discarded before reaching the final version?
21) There is no rule, but in each case, recently thanks to use the 3D scanners has become possibe to change the shape and the size of a prototype made by hand. However, trying to speak in general, usually i prepare three different prototypes by hand, then using the 3D scanning is changed in about 10-12 different versions

22) What is the success rate of project and many lure never come to see the market?
22) When i do a prototype by hand just the 60% arrived on the final stage, but also those lures that are discarded in a first time can be take again after a few years after

23) What you think about the Handmade Lures?
23) It depends on what you considered a bait produced by hand, if we are talking about wood bait with aluminum foil skin, there are definitely some piece that i considered masterpieces.
But the gap with a company like ours is so great that is difficult to compare between there two worlds. If one had the change to see our production process, could understand that all our lures requires a lot of manual work

24) There are any Lure Designer that you admire?
24) I like very much to admire the beautiful women :)

Obviously many questions remain in our minds. We Realized its as soon as we climbed back on the plane... We Could also ask this... And this one...
Off course you would have a lot of other curious to ask to Mr Adachi.
No Problems... Tomorrow the new contest DUO allow everyone to explore the Dark Side turning their question to Adachi San, so if there's some corner still be lit tomorrow we will tell you how..

We thank Mr Adachi for the sympathy and the availability to having answered to all our 24 questions and we look forward to reading your.....
